The NRM Elections Tribunal has dismissed a petition filed by Dr. Khanakwa Sarah Bwayo challenging the declaration of Khalayi Peace as the NRM flag bearer for Woman Member of Parliament, Namisindwa District.
The petitioner had alleged widespread irregularities, including ballot stuffing and disenfranchisement, but the Tribunal found insufficient evidence to overturn the results.
In its ruling delivered on Tuesday, 2nd September, 2025, the Tribunal upheld Khalayi Peace’s victory, citing failure by the petitioner to meet the required burden of proof.
The decision affirms the legitimacy of the July 17th primaries and closes the legal chapter surrounding the contest.
While speaking to the media today Friday, 5th September, 2025, Khalayi urged for unity and reconciliation saying they did not involve in any wrongdoing.
“What came out of the petition represents the voice of the electorate,” she says calling on all peace-loving citizens to accept the outcome.
Some of her supporters urged Khanakwa to rally behind Khalayi who promise to address pressing issues in Namisindwa District.
Efforts to get a comment from Sarah Khanakwa were futile by the time of filing this story as all her known phone numbers could not go through.
