UCAA Boss Urges Partner States to Improve on Relationship in Aviation Sector

The Deputy Director General Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Ms. Olive Lumonya Birungi has urged the East African Community partner states under their umbrella body Civil Aviation safety and security oversight agency (CASSOA)  to improve on the relationship between players and regulators in the aviation industry.

 

She noted that the world has changed and the aviation sector can’t keep on doing things the way they have been doing them in the past. Ms. Olive Lumonya Birungi made the remarks on September 3, 2025, while closing a three day training on regulatory excellence attended by seven member states under their umbrella body Civil Aviation safety security and oversight agency.

 

Speaking to the press in Entebbe on September 4 2025, Ms. Olive Lumonya Birungi, said for effective regulation of the aviation industry, there is need to build proper relationship between players and regulators in the aviation industry.

 

Ms. Olive Lumonya Birungi called on the aviation sector to up it’s game in order to catch up with the emerging technologies.

 

She further revealed that the authority is willing to continue working closely with Boeing and Cranfield University on collaborative projects that build capacity, strengthen regulatory systems and promote excellence across Africa’s aviation sector.

 

The program manager at Boeing Global Learning Institute, Mr. Harry Chamwada, said in order to make the aviation sector more vibrant his institute is dedicated to conduct further trainings to equip players in the aviation sector with knowledge to run the aviation industry.
