KIBUKU: Mob Attacks Resident’s Home over Witchcraft, Destroys House, Property

A violent mob attacked the home of Frank Bazibu in Kibuku district, a resident of Bukenye village, Lwatama parish, Lwatama Sub County in Kibuku district, setting his house ablaze, damaging crops, and injuring animals.

 

The incident occurred on November 23, 2025, after a woman, Baguma Sipora, died in an accident, on 22ndh November, at Buseta trading center in Kibuku district and the mob accused Bazibu of causing her death through witchcraft over a land wrangle.

 

The angry mob still went ahead and brought the deceased body wanting to bury it into the conflicted land.

 

According to Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, police responded to the scene and arrested several suspects, including Annet Kabasa, Balonde Febiano, Apollo Guminsirira, Brian Kirya, Bernard Jesuni, Shaban Eria, and Emma Menya under Kibuku Police CRB 329/2025 number.

 

Authorities condemned the act and urged the public to report matters to relevant authorities instead of taking the law into their own hands.

 

He adds that the incident stems from a land dispute between Bazibu and the deceased, who had been involved in a previous accident. The police are investigating the matter.
