Nation Media Group Uganda is resuming operations after over one month of suspension.
This was revealed by the Group’s Chairperson, Joe Muganda in a press release dated today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Announcing the resumption, Muganda said their services across print, radio, television and digital will be restored progressively as they complete operational arrangements.
The Daily Monitor was most recently shut down on June 28, 2026, following a military siege on its headquarters in Namuwongo, Kampala.
Historically, it was also previously closed down by authorities in October 2002 and April 2013.
The recent 2026 closure was ordered by Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Armed security forces blockaded the premises of Nation Media Group, halting printing operations and forcing sister broadcast stations like NTV Uganda and Spark TV off the air.
