Authorities in Soroti City have discovered a body in one of the offices of Soroti District Local Government.
According to our source, the body was found yesterday’s evening 04,01,2022 lying in one of the district local government offices with blood coming out of the mouth. It had started swelling with the skin peeling off and flies buzzing around the room.
According to the police spokesperson for East Kyoga Region, ASP Ageca Oscar Gregory, they received information at the territorial police of Soroti Central Police Station vide SD 86/04/01/2022 that there was a body in one of the offices at Soroti District Local Government offices.
Ageca says a team of police officers led by the District CID officer, D/ASP Pande Grace Davis rushed to the scene and indeed established that there was a body half naked dressed only in underwear. His other clothes that included a coat, trouser and a shirt hanged on the door and smattering of clothes and polythene bags being used for sleeping on the floor in an empty office space that is currently not being used for the purpose.
“The Uganda Police Force would like to state that the body has been identified as that of a well-known person within Soroti city with a mental challenge, that he has been sleeping in that office for a long time and that he must have died between three to four days before the body was discovered.” Ageca said in a press statement.
The police later conveyed the body to Soroti regional referral hospital so that the cause of death is ascertained through a postmortem.
“We therefore ask any person or persons with information as to the identity of the deceased to come and help with identification to allow for interment at his ancestral home.” He added.
