Six out of the eleven Chiefs who constitute the Busoga Kingdom on Friday 13th January, 2022 resolved to unseat Kyabazinga Willian Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV in a meeting held at Sana Hotel in Iganga.

Those in attendance and unanimously voted to remove rhe Kyabazinga were; H.R.H Banamwita Ayub, the Ntembe of Butembe, Godfrey Mutyaba, the Nkono of Bukono, Okaali Vicky Musiitwa Muluya, the emperor wakooli XXVII of Bukooli, Robert Yokanna Kukajjanga Luba, the Luba VII of Bunha, John Ntale, the Nanhumba of Bunhole Bunanhumba and Isiko Yokonia Kawanguzi, the Kisiki of Busiki.

Whereas the Prime minister in the Kingdom, Muvawala Joseph Nsekere came out to rubbish the claims and denied the 6 chiefs, the writing is on the wall clearly showing that Nadiope could be in trouble.

The 6 chiefs claim that Kyabazinga Gabula has disrespected the Busoga Kingdom constitution which states that elections for a new King to the throne shall be held after every 5 years.

Gabula was unanimously approved by the Busoga Lukiko (Parliament) on 25 September 2014. Following an unsuccessful last-minute court challenge and was crowned as the 4th Kyabazinga of Busoga at Bugembe on Saturday, 13 September 2014. (Editor)

Secondly, the Chiefs accuse Gabula of dodging meetings ever since his 5 years expired.

“A term is 5 years. Kyabazinga Gabula has however been on the throne for over 5 years and has since failed to turn up for meetings he’s been called in to discuss the matter,” one of them noted.

These also accused the Kyabazinga of playing favoritism, giving more attention to Chiefs that hail from Kamuli.

“He only favors chiefs from Kamuli, ignoring others coming from outside Kamuli in meetings,” they said.

The six later appended signatures on a document un-sitting the Kyabazinga, and installed Edward Columbus Muloki Zibondo of Bulamogi as the new king of Busoga kingdom.

Nkuutu Samuel Zirabamuzale, the head of Royal council in the same vein rubbished the claims and noted that William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV is still the rightful Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom.
