Residents of Kabwangasi town council in Butebo district have raised their concern over the current increased cases of panga wielding men who attack them at night.

While speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview on Monday, Augustine Opio aged 78 one of the area residents says that some youths in the area have formed gangs moving with pangas, knives, axes, arrows, and bows among others.

He adds that they do bad activities like hacking and robbing people saying that they have raised the matter to the police but no responses so far.

Abdu Rehman Lubowa, another resident also says that over ten homes have been raided in the town council last month alone during night hours by those suspected youths ending up stealing properties like TVs, radios, and money among others.

He adds that currently, locals in the area are living in fear due to these gangs of youths since they fear losing their lives and properties.

Abud Ssimba Abudu urged security in the district to take this matter seriously by arresting these youths so that they can be in peace.

Robert Namudo, the LCI chairperson of Kabwangasi cell confirmed the insecurity in the area, saying that they are planning to meet district security leaders to come up with a permanent solution.

Getting a comment from Margaret Alaso, the Bukiedi North Police spokesperson was futile by press time after not picking up our calls.
