A 23 year old woman has allegedly committed suicide after having been ripped off Shs500,000 by fraudsters.
The deceased, Hellen Ezawa, was a resident of Osukuru Ward, Osukuru Town Council in Tororo District.
According to Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South Police Spokesperson, locals discovered the body dangling on a Mango tree at a Maize plantation on Saturday, 28th October 2023.
He adds that the body was found having blood stains, broken pieces of mirror and shoes of a female person.
Mugwe also says that they got information from her relatives that before committing suicide, Ezawa the deceased was called by unknown people who convinced her to send Shs500,000 purportedly for transporting items like lap tops, cameras, phones and Shs10million from Entebbe airport to Tororo which was given to her by a donor from USA .
He says that this might have caused her death because she borrowed the money and yet later after sending the money, the conmen switched off their phones.
Jacqueline Chebet, one of the area residents, has urged her fellow residents in the area to stop believing in free things.
