A Parish Chief of Leku Parish, Drania Sub County, in Koboko District has been convicted and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for theft of Parish Development Model funds.

John Taban Moro who pleaded guilty to the charges was sentenced by the Koboko Chief Magistrates Court today, Friday, 25th July, 2025.

On top of spending 6 months in the coolers, Moro was also ordered to refund the money, which he did. The court also issued a warning to all civil servants about the consequences of stealing money intended for poverty eradication programs.

The accused was arrested and arraigned by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and ODPP after they gathered conclusive evidence in Leku Parish that the accused had stolen millions of shillings meant for PDM.

Moro also made unauthorized payments to his family members, including his father, brothers, and sister-in-law.

This action was in direct violation of the PDM guidelines, which prohibit civil servants and family members from the same household from benefiting from PDM funds.
